The history of savage Lacrosse
How it all began
Savage Lacrosse was created in 2018 when these boys were only in 4th grade. A friend of Coach Rubano was running a Cape Cod tournament and was short a 2026 team. Last minute John called Mario to see if he could gather up some kids to play. Between the two of them they rallied in the troops and made it happen. They went 5-1 in their very first tournament!
Afterwards we knew that we had a special and unique group of the best players in the region combined with an exceptional coaching staff. From that point we had one goal, to be the best team we could possibly be while challenging and developing lacrosse players who love the game and are committed to lacrosse year-round.
We pride ourselves in offering a family atmosphere and always have time for our players and parents. Because we are only one team, this offers our players and families undivided attention, focus and support. Our objective is to encourage each individual player to be the very best they can be both on and off the field.
savage teamwear
The name Savage came from an apparel company called Savage Teamwear. Coach Rubano knows the founder Kyle Savage, a fellow Eastern Connecticut State University lacrosse alum. While Kyle was starting his company, it coincided with our desire to grow a local lacrosse program, so the timing was perfect. We have since grown to be one of the top 2026 teams in our area with over 6 tournament championships, and Kyle Savage now creates apparel for over 250+ teams. The journey has been an amazing one for both of us.
